Areas of support

  1. Trauma

Trauma refers to the psychological, emotional, physiological and relational effects of experiencing or witnessing events that overwhelm a person's ability to cope. It is important to recognise that trauma is not defined solely by the event itself, but by how the experience is processed and its impact on the individual. Two people can experience the same event and respond very differently.

  2. Complex trauma

Complex trauma refers to repeated, prolonged or multiple traumatic experiences, particularly those that occur within relationships where there is a power imbalance or limited opportunity to escape. It commonly begins in childhood but can also occur in adulthood, for example in situations of prolonged abuse or coercive control.

  3. Emotional wellbeing

Emotional wellbeing influences how we experience ourselves, our relationships and everyday life. When it is affected, you may feel overwhelmed, anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected or stuck. Therapy provides a supportive space to understand these experiences, strengthen emotional resilience and reconnect with a greater sense of balance and wellbeing.

  4. Lifestyle

Our everyday behaviour is influenced by the choices we make. Sometimes our ways of coping no longer serve us. Together, we explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion, supporting healthier choices, balance and overall wellbeing.

  5. Mental clarity

Persistent worry, overthinking, perfectionism and difficulty concentrating can leave you feeling mentally overwhelmed. Therapy supports you in making sense of these experiences, reducing mental overload and strengthening clarity, confidence and resilience.

  6. Relationships

The quality of our relationships can influence our confidence, emotional wellbeing and sense of safety. Together, we explore patterns of relating, strengthen healthy boundaries and support more connected, fulfilling relationships. Healing often happens in relationships. Therapy offers a safe and supportive relationship where you can better understand yourself, navigate challenges and develop more secure, authentic and connected relationships with others.

  7. Identity and self-awareness

Difficult experiences can sometimes shape how you see yourself. Challenges in self-awareness can leave you feeling weighed down by self-doubt. Therapy offers a supportive space to rebuild self-understanding, self-worth and embracing a stronger sense of who you are.

  8. Stress and burnout

Ongoing stress and burnout can leave you feeling emotionally and physically exhausted, overwhelmed, or disconnected from what matters most, including meaningful and supportive relationships. Therapy helps you understand these patterns, identify the underlying causes of overextension and difficulties with setting healthy boundaries. In developing greater self-awareness, together we work towards restoring balance, building sustainable ways of coping with life's challenges and supporting recovery in a way that reflects your unique needs and circumstances.

Is therapy right for me?

You may benefit from therapy if you are finding it difficult to cope with the impact of past or present experiences. If you notice changes in your relationships, sense of self or everyday wellbeing, the therapeutic process supports greater self-understanding, healthier relationships and more meaningful and sustainable ways of living.

How I work

My approach

Every person's story is unique, and there is no single path to healing. My approach is grounded in Integrative Trauma-Informed Care (ITIC), a therapeutic framework that brings together trauma-informed care, integrative psychotherapy and embodied approaches to support healing in ways that are responsive to each person's experiences, strengths and goals.

Mental wellbeing and trauma can influence every part of our lives, including how we think, feel, relate to others and experience ourselves. It can influence emotions, relationships, the nervous system, physical health and the way we experience ourselves and others. By gently paying attention to thoughts, emotions and the body's responses, such as tension, pain, numbness or feeling disconnected, we can begin to understand how these experiences are held and gradually restore a greater sense of safety, emotional balance and connection with yourself.

From our first session, we work together to create a space where you feel emotionally and physically safe, respected and free to move at a pace that feels right for you. There is never any pressure to share more than you are ready to. In this way the therapeutic space is collaborative and you are free to explore self-understanding and meaningful change.

Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, values and circumstances. My work is also informed by restorative and responsive perspectives, recognising that our lives are shaped by our relationships, communities and broader social contexts. Healing is not about fixing what is broken. It is about restoring dignity, strengthening agency, deepening connection and creating the freedom to live in ways that feel authentic, meaningful and true to who you are.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Group oneBefore you contact me

Who do you work with?

I work with adults seeking psychological support for a range of concerns affecting their mental wellbeing, relationships, sense of self and everyday life, including the effects of trauma, stress, burnout and other difficult experiences.

Can therapy help if I do not know exactly what is wrong?

Yes. You do not need to have a diagnosis or clear explanation for what you are experiencing before seeking support. Therapy can provide space to explore what feels difficult and better understand what you may need.

What therapeutic approach do you use?

My work is grounded in trauma-informed and integrative psychotherapy. This means therapy is tailored to your individual needs and may draw on different evidence-informed approaches while recognising the importance of safety, relationships, the body and your lived experience.

Will I have to talk about difficult experiences immediately?

No. Therapy moves at a pace that is appropriate for you. You will not be pressured to disclose experiences before you feel ready. Building safety and trust is an important part of the therapeutic process.

Is everything I share confidential?

Confidentiality is a central part of psychological practice. Information shared in therapy is treated with professional care and in accordance with applicable ethical and legal requirements. The limits of confidentiality will be explained during the consultation process.

Group twoAppointments, format and fees

What happens during the first consultation?

The first consultation is an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy, explore your current needs and consider what support may be helpful. It also allows us to determine whether the therapeutic approach and working relationship feel appropriate for you.

Are consultations available online?

Online consultations may be available, subject to suitability, professional requirements and appointment availability. The appropriate format can be discussed when you submit an appointment request.

Are in-person consultations available?

In-person consultations may be available, subject to practice arrangements and appointment availability. Please enquire about current availability when submitting your appointment request.

Does submitting an appointment request confirm my booking?

No. Submitting a request does not automatically confirm an appointment. Your request will be reviewed, and you will be contacted regarding availability and the next steps.

How long is a consultation?

The duration and structure of consultations will be discussed when your appointment is confirmed, taking your needs and the nature of the consultation into account.

Current fees will be provided during the appointment process. Where applicable, you are encouraged to confirm your benefits and level of cover directly with your medical aid scheme before your first consultation.

Do you accept medical aid?

Medical aid cover depends on your individual scheme, benefit option and available benefits. Please confirm your cover, authorisation requirements and any applicable co-payments directly with your medical aid scheme.

What are Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs)?

Certain mental health conditions may qualify for Prescribed Minimum Benefits. Eligibility and the number of sessions covered depend on your medical aid scheme, plan option and clinical requirements. Please confirm your benefits directly with your scheme.

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not always required. However, some medical aid schemes or benefit options may have specific requirements. Please confirm these directly with your medical aid scheme before your first appointment.
